Lined with silk, this "inside out" jacket has exposed raw edges and a cleanly finished inside. Looking at clothing my mother, an artist, wore in the 1980s in New York, I was interested in patterns formed by wear, as well as natural fraying and gentle decomposition. I used plain medium weight canvas (often used for paintings) and painted on top with white acrylic. I then placed white threads on top to dry in the paint and create little moments.
